Check your roofing before the next big storm
Updated: May 1
Well, 2020 started with a bang, storms and relentless rain, we have been busy repairing roofing and guttering and although good business for us not so good for the homeowner.
Some jobs we attended could have been avoided and those costly repairs eradicated completely if in the calm times the roof had been given a little attention, also guttering if kept maintained could of been left intact after heavy winds.
Here are a few pointers for future reference to cut down on possible damage.
1/ CHECK Ridge tiles and Hip tiles are secure and the cement is in good order.
2/MAKE Sure all guttering is secure and clips and brackets intact and down pipes fitted and fastened to the wall.
3/ THERE Are no loose or damaged tiles ready to fall out
4/ FLASHINGS Are firmly in place and not flapping
5/ALL Fascia and soffits and barge boards are not rotten and in place
6/CHIMNEY Pots and cowls firmly fixed and pointing in good order.
These are a few pointers to save you money in the future from storm damage on a roof, as roofing can be dangerous we recommend a roofing company who is compliant with health and safety to do any work for you but like they say prevention is better than cure.
